I have stopped using this but it is what I used on most jewellery up until lockdown ended and Terry County who finished my works retired. I first thought of using it in a government run NEIS business course in the early 90s, I can remember sitting in the boring class drawing hands to symbolise hand made.

This is my makers mark registered at the assay office in London that can be used with hallmarks there. I have 4 names and this is my initials, the font is a bit fancy because it was done last century.

CMT silver is a proprietary blend that contains fine silver, platinum, and palladium. It is still sterling silver with 925 parts silver but it has the hardness of 9 carat gold. Obviously it’s more expensive than regular silver as platinum and palladium are much more expensive than copper which is usually what is in 925 silver.

I tried to find a symbol for it and couldn’t so had a stamp made to give future jewellers the heads up that the metal is harder
