It's a cartoon by Gary Larson and shows someone at a table of phones with the word They .
I was at a reading at The Lounge in Melbourne where Ed McBain read from his latest book
".Who's they?" Monroe asked.
"The weather guys."
"Then why didn't you say so? Why do people always say they this they that, instead of who the hell they is supposed to be.
I thought it would be a good thing to sign rather than just getting the book signed. I asked him if he had ever seen the cartoon, he said he hadn't so I left a copy of it with the photocopied passage at his hotel and he kindly signed the passage
This is one of my favourite autographs, it's from the song "I'd Rather Be Burned as a Witch".
All I can say here is if you get the chance to see Gillian Welch and David Rawlings live you have to go
I have been collecting these autographs for more than 10 years, Ryan Adams is the first to get it straight off - no lengthy explanation needed. He just took the pen and started writing - very cool.
A mad evening with mate Gareth to get this.
Stephen Fry was also charming at the Regent Theatre stage door. See the outtake at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QX5WavWy2t0
This is the first time I have paid for an autograph. I'm a 'Buffy The Vampire Slayer' and 'Angel' fan so I went to Supernova in Melbourne and paid to enter then paid to queue and have this signed. After signing for almost 2 days James Marsters was still charming and nice
Loved this gig at The Continental in Greville St.
This is the most "theys" by one person, I got this at Basement Discs in Melbourne where they were selling Paul Kelly's book and CDs, I'm hoping that after reading the book I might be able to work out who the theys are. (Reader I didn't)
Love this song. Love Steve Earle.
Great book, great author.
I didn't actually meet Quentin Tarantino - the lovely staff at a lovely restaurant got this for me.
I think I got this in Leicester in the UK in 2005 - great gig.
This was a really interesting night - I got a bruise on my foot from a book falling off the sale table at Readings in Hawthorn, a book written by the stripper who broke up my marriage a year earlier and a year uglier than it should have.
This was signed at a reading that Armistead Maupin did at the Hartwigs bookshop in St Kilda in the 1990s.
Burt Bacharach played at the Sydney Opera House and I forced my ma to hang out with me to get this autograph.
I cannot remember when/where I got this - but I can recommend Neko Case's music.
I was lucky to win a ticket through radio station 3RRR to see Terry Pratchett talking at RMIT
A great gig at The Continental and then an instore at Basement Discs which is where I got this autograph.
Iris DeMent also played a great gig at The Continental, this lyric is from the closing song from the TV show Northern Exposure.
